Pen Drawing in Black Ink of the Smack Mayfly at Maldon was exhibited at the Royal Society of Marine Art (RSMA) Annual Open Exhibition at the Mall Gallery in October 2009 (Cat. No 125).

Two Drawings, Lobster Pots at Pin Mill and Codham Mill were included in the Society of Graphic Fine Art (SGFA) Annual Open Exhibition at the Menier Gallery, also October 2009. (Cat. No 23 and 24)

Maldon Art Trail second Year – 26th September to 4th October 2009, attracted new exhibitors and was popular with both exhibitors and local Art Lovers. The launch of the Event was at the Moot Hall in Maldon High Street, (now managed by the Friends of the Moot Hall). An Auction of Artworks donated by Art Trail exhibitors, was held in the Moot Hall’s 19th Century Court Room and was a sell-out success generating funds for the 2010 Art Trail in Maldon. The items went under the hammer of Rotarian Brian Olley from Witham Rotary Club. Five of my pictures were on show in the Queens Head on the Hythe in the company of Ian Hughes’ Stained Glass pieces.

Maldon Art Club has attracted several New Members this Year and is preparing to hold an exhibition of work for sale on the Maldon Victorian Evenings. The work will be on show at reasonable prices in All Saints Church – an original picture is a welcome present that only you can give to your loved ones! Come and see us on the Thursdays 3rd and 10th of December. (And you can sing some carols with a hot drink too!)

In conclusion I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Peaceful New Year.

Two drawings are included in the forthcoming Society of Graphic Fine Art – the drawing Society, exhibition at the Menier Gallery, adjacent to the Chocolate Factory Theatre on the South bank, London. 5th to 10th October 2009. Admission is free to see over 200 new artworks.

Closer to home, at the recent AGM Maldon Art Club have elected me as their Chairman and I look forward to this stewardship for the coming year. The Club is well established in the Town and meets weekly at the Plume School on Tuesday evenings from 1900 to 2130 hrs. New members are welcome to enjoy an evening devoted to art – drawing, painting pastel and acrylics with help and guidance if needed, by experienced artists. The fees are substantially lower than elsewhere in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and Members can exhibit work at the Club’s exhibitions.

Maldon Art Trail begins its second year in the town on Saturday 26th September, as part of the Essex Summer of Art, more details are available from Rosie Sandler: E-mail rosiesandler@talktalk.net

I will be showing at the Queens Head on the Hythe with the Stained Glass artist Ian Hughes.
